Before I announce the Shiny Red Giveaway, I wanted to show you a few things that I have found in my junk wanderings lately. For some reason I have been coming across a lot of textiles which I cannot seem to resist.
I found this blanket back in October when we visited Arizona. It lives on the couch and often has at least one dog sleeping on it.
I think this piece is a throw rug of some kind but it seems like it would be very slippery. The colors thrill me. What would you do with it?
This is a crazy little bit of an afghan that I found yesterday while out junking with Amy. I love how some of the yarn has felted in the wash.
I found this crate yesterday at Urban Renewals for 2.99. You can't tell from the picture, but it is a beautiful pale blue. It is already on my porch holding winter boots.
This fun basket is all of my favorite things- vintage inspired, colorful and useful!
Are you guys ready for a giveaway?
I am offering some of my very best junk to you, my most beloved readers.
One red and white canister perfect for hiding chocolate from loved ones...
One pretty bird ornament...
One shiny red and white creamer...
One long white shabby chic mirror...
One red and white chicken feed pillow envelope...
And one black, yellow and white apron, stylish enough to make every housewife look like a queen!
To enter, leave a comment here. Tell me who you are and your favorite flavor of ice cream. That's it! I'll randomly select a winner in one week on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 6pm EST.
Good luck!

Dear gawd! Memere's been dumping her latest creations from the great beyond. My eyes! My eyes! Oy, blinded by the bright.
Got me too much junque already. Thanks anyway. Just needed to bust me some chops.
Hello, My name is Marisol and my favorite ice cream is Rocky Road. You know this. My 9 year old thinks your junk is beautiful. xo
I would love the mirror. How do you feel about hand-delivering it? I'll make some hot chocolate.
Hi, my name is Jennie--I went to college with David. I am an artist and love your stuff/blog. My favortie ice cream flavor is french vanilla (the more yellow, the better).
Hi I'm Julie and I'm a junkaholic. My favorite flavor of icecream is chocolate. My favorite mix is Starbuck's caramel machiato icecream with peanut butter.
The green and yellow blanket would be good on the end of a bed. The zigzag blanket would look good being burned. Love the apron!
You are way too much...the "rug" looks like something my great aunt would have in the center of her table with a vase of plastic flowers in it.
Favorite ice cream flavor is a tough one, I like seasonal blueberry frozen yogurt and any chocolate ice cream with peanutbutter and even more chocolate sauce poured on it.
Hope I win, love the mirror!
Okay, I can't resist the red....and particularly the bottle top basket, or better yet, $2.99 for the crate?! I just need to shop with you, says Misha, whoves heavy duty coffe ice cream...
and can't spell.
As you are my lovely aunt's sister-wife, I think it's only appropriate that I say hi! Hello, I'm Alice :)
Btw, that thing that may be an area rug? That's *exactly* how I'd use it. I'd make a bunch of random designs on one side with puffy paints, that way it's less slippery :) I think you need to find a way to have all three of those yarny objects in the same space, they'll clash in the most fantastic of ways.
Also, I have the same kind of basket that was given to me by Charlie! It's currently my bread basket.
Oh, and favorite ice cream? Eddy's cake mix. I drool a little just thinking about it.
I keep on going to our Good Will whenever you show something that you have gotten. And nine times out of ten I am disappointed. Usually just a book or once in a while a nice dish. Nothing like the things you find. Our GW is in a super ritzy town, so I don't get it. Have to find a different one to go to. And about the afghans...how can people part with them after doing all that work? Crazy. But their loss is your gain.
oh no...forget to tell you my favorite ice cream...candy cane ice cream sold at a local dairy here. But it's seasonal, and they don't have any more. :(
I love the green blanket! As well as your idea to give away some good stuff you find :)
oh wow, someone wins all of that?! I love red...
it's hard to pick a fav flavor of ice cream, but I'd have to say it is French Silk-Dryer's.
Hey, Sara--I'm Frances and I'm a fool for cookies and cream ice cream. I just can't help myself.
xo
Wow! I love other people's "junk" -lol. Count me in. The red/white pieces look like they'd match my Jesus Is The Gift pieces I got through The Relevant Conference.
I'm Tracy from Hall of Fame Moms.com and I love chocolate peanut butter ice cream!
Hey There, I'm Robin from Indiana and I am glad that I stopped by. That would be a very interesting rug but you better put a rubber mat under it and it will stay in place. My favorite ice cream is chocolate chip mint and I am really drawn to that little red and white creamer. I always love your humorous writing.
@Cheryl! LOLOL! I knew you'd say that!
@Marisol Your nine year old has good taste!
@BigBahamaMama I wish I could hand deliver it! xoxo
@Jennifer Hi there! Welcome to the blog of junk!
@Julie Drooling about the ice cream and peeing my pants about the zigzag blanket!
@Sullygirl You are prolly right! I bet it does go on a table. I need to get some dusty plastic fruit to put in a bowl for on top of it!
@Misha So happy you are here! xoxo
@Alice Hi Alice! It's so great to see you here! You are so right about the puffy paint on that rug! xoxo
@Mgster You have to sort through a lot of crap at goodwill to find good stuff. xoxo
@theotherteacher Welcome to my blog! xoxo
@henjen OMG! French Silk is sooooo good!
@lefthandedhousewife xoxo
@tracy I love peanutbutter chocolate ice cream! xoxo
@robin Welcome! My husband loves mint chocolate chip, but I like it better without the mint!
Oohh soo pretty! I adore the red and white canister and creamer (the mirror and apron, too.)
I'm hopping over through the comment you left on my blog and my favorite flavor of ice cream - all of them! Just kidding... almost. ;) If I had to pick, had to, I suppose I'd pick something like buttered pecan. MMMmm. =)
You pregnant? Seems a bit emotional for a New Englander, especially after the great Traivesty of 2011. :)
Hi, I'm Jody and I want the green & white afghan most of all! I like vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, peanuts and bananas.
Jody
