$383

Today was one of those crazy hectic days that seem to go on forever and I was doing a great job of keeping it all together until I noticed that the milk in the refrigerator was warm.

Warm milk. In the fridge.

Then I noticed the silence that can only come from a fridge motor which has gone to meet its maker.

There was swearing, then there was chocolate and finally there was a call to the appliance repair man.

He came right over.

He looks like Tony Soprano but his name is Paul.

While his son replaced the motor, David and I got to chatting with Paul. He grew up in our town and told us some stories about our town 35 years ago.

Then he asked us where we were from and how we met.

It was lovely actually. I love being reminded of meeting David and falling in love with him.

We talked about kids and Halloween too.

Then he charged us $383 and left.

So that part wasn't great, but the unexpected memory of meeting David and a random chat with the repair man warmed me.

Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude.

The end.

It's lovely to read there are still silver linings in the clouds!

Some days are just like that - glad the milk is cold again and the stories are sweet.

At least it was a nice visit while your poor refridge was being fixed!

My dryer broke on Saturday and the repairman came over this week as well. I am thrilled that there are still fix it people in my neighborhood. xo Mari

That sounds like a reasonable price to me to have cold milk again. My friend just had a repair man out to look at her "warm" fridge and he quoted her $1000 to fix it. Whew. She headed to Lowes to buy a new one.
Have a happy Halloween.

You are smart to fix instead of replace. Our electricity went out today and we had two feet of snow to move in the driveway. NOT a nice way to transition from tropical breezes and nice, fatty meals. Oh well. I hope your sweet girlies have a snazzy Halloween. Take lots of photos!

Ah...the warm milk! Never, ever a good sign. This happened to us in May and, unfortunately, it meant a new refrigerator. I just love nice, chatty repairmen. If you are going to come in my house and touch my appliances, I want you to be chatty. LOL! A few years ago our GE Profile stove was having issues. We called our repairman (the chatty one). He fixed it and asked me if I knew what "Profile" meant. I did not. He told me it means "Crap". Yup, that's what he called my expensive stove...CRAP! LOL How can I NOT love this repairman???

$383 is a staggering amount. A bill like that would get a midwestern repairman strung up in the town square.
