How do you spell trouble?

In my house trouble is spelled "t a p e m e a s u r e".

Today I spent the day teaching Lily, ferrying her to activities and cleaning up my rat hole of a house.

I'm not kidding. It was a horror.

Luckily Lily was invited to a friend's house for three hours this afternoon so I had enough time to do a mega cleaning blitz before I needed to pick her up.

I finished all of my cleaning with ten minutes to spare.

All day long I have been gnawing on the idea of moving my couch. It would be a pretty radical move and as I toiled I kept imagining how it might work.

This is all to explain how ten minutes before I needed to leave to get Lily I pulled out this.

Once I take out the tape measure it means that the idea has moved past the "Hmmmm. That could be interesting but I am not interested in committing to fully exploring it." to "Must. Move. Couch. Now."

I have several tape measure's strategically placed around my house for when inspiration strikes. Some people preposition booze. I preposition tools. It's just how I roll.

I conferred with my tape measure and we agreed. I had just enough time to move the couch and get an idea of how it would look.

Reader, I love it. No I don't have any pictures yet. I also have no idea how anyone will be able to use the TV, DVD player or Wii.

DO NOT TROUBLE ME WITH BORING DETAILS!

Sorry about that little outburst.

Anyway, now the couch faces the fireplace and that my friends was the goal of the day.

That and eliminate the dust bunnies. If that isn't cause for chocolate, then I don't know what is.

PS. Tomorrow my Shiny Red Giveaway ends! Leave a comment!

PPS. The bat was not rabid, may he rest in sweet bat peace.

Isn't it fun to rearrange furniture! Just makes it seem like a whole new room to me.

As you have always maintained, the best way to clean a room is to rearrange the furniture. Always works for me. Sounds great. Maybe the TV and Wii could go where the "Buelah-peel-me-a-grape" chair is. But then, where does the chair move to?? Oh, well, that is a story for another day, I am sure.
Love,
Mom

Great mental pic of you sitting on the couch with the dust bunnies facing the fireplace. Very cozy.

I'm just back from my fabulous SIL's house, and I'm all about moving furniture and changing everything, Wii be damned! I'm impressed with your multitude of tape measures--I've got one, and I can never find it when I need it.

I also have one always-missing tape measure. Maybe your next giveaway could be a couple of swanky-looking tape measurers and a Swiffer? ;) I love to rearrange...it makes everything seem so new and exciting.
Rest in peace, cute little bat.

Are you and the dust bunnies planning any more furniture moving?

I have a tape measure that has a monkey face on it - I carry it in my purse - you never know when you are going to need to measure a monkey.

I'm so glad the bat wasn't rabid. Yes, RIP little bat.

The "prepositioned booze" line made me laugh out loud. Hysterical. I have prepositioned mass-baked desert cakes. They last forever.

First off, so glad to hear that the bat wasn't rabid. Big relief.
You are lucky to have a tape measure handy...I never seem to be able to find one. I bet the couch looks look where you moved it to.

Oh I'm so glad you are happy with your move. We moved our living room in Aug and it is amazing! The TV is NOT the focal point of the room but it still all works!! I'm so happy! Enjoy your change!
