People, last night the temperature was in the low thirties!
This puts me in a very, very good mood. Some people do not understand my love of cold, but my god, I just adore it. I love sweaters and hot apple cider and my gas fireplace. Snuggling is much more pleasant in the cold than in the hot. The means of becoming warm are all so pleasant.
It gets dark early now, so we usually eat dinner by candle light. Even leftovers feel festive in the flickering glow. Evenings find the girls and I taking our baths a bit earlier, there seems little risk that someone will stop by unannounced.
I am so blissed out by this wonderful October chill that I am having a giveaway!
Everything I am giving away is shiny and red.
Okay, one down side of it getting dark early is that I ran out of time to take this picture in natural light.
This bag is called a Mag Bag. It's for carrying magazines in. And also chocolate.
The doll is a russian doll. Not to be confused with a russian bride. I'm just saying.
Coasters! Cute shiny red coasters! They come in a matching tin.
Look! She's on a set of dish towels as well!
Russian doll napkins. You know you want these.
Bath beds! So ooh' la la la!
Here are the rules: Post one comment about whether or not you believe in ghosts. Contest will end on Friday, October 23, 2009 5pm EST. Winner will be chosen at random.
Good luck!

Holy Red Russian, Batman! Everything is so festive. If I win, I won't have to get the Christmas decorations out of the attic for the 10th year in a row. I know, that saddens you. No holiday cheer here in Portsmouth. Maybe this year will be different.
Ghosts, huh? Um, not so much. Negative energy left behind by previous residents and owners of homes? Yup. Count me in.
Oh, about being a cold-loving freakazoid...I really want to tell you to go to hell over that but other people who read these comments might get the wrong idea. So, instead, I'm just going to tell you I love you anyway, no matter how weird and twisted you are.
Love, C
Ghosts. Humm... well I guess I like the idea of not really knowing if they are real or not. Ghost Hunters is one of my favorite shows. Hope that answers your question. LOVE red and the cold R O C K S!!
Hugs, Lisa
I really liked your reasons for loving the cold weather. I also think your giveaway is very cool!
Yes, I do believe in ghosts. When I was a kid I remember seeing my grandpa, who had already passed away, rocking back and forth in the upholstered rocking chair that was HIS chair. I was sitting in our van with my two sisters while my parents were in the grocery store. I was looking into the store from the van to see if they were in the checkout line yet. That's when I saw my grandpa in his rocking chair. The chair was where the bagger would normally stand at a grocery store. Ever since then I've believed in ghosts.
Thanks so much!!

Ghosts...love everything to do with ghosts! Do you have one?!!
Leslie
Love the giveaway especially the napkins. As for ghosts, I guess they exist. I've never seen one but I know people who have.
Anyone who has ever seen an episode of "That's Incredible!" should believe. As a child of the 80's, I have seen many an episode. On the serious side, I think there are too many things that are not easily explained. xoxoxo Mari
Ohhh I definitely believe in ghosts - and also I believe in give-aways. LOL And this is a wonderful one.
I too like the chilly days and blustery days - and soup and hot tea - ohh I like the warming up feeling.
What cute prizes!!! ^^
I do believe in ghosts! I am so silly because I'm also afraid of them lol
Please count me in and thanks a lot for the chance.
Humbug. I do not believe in ghosts, and furthermore I am very angry at you for making it SNOW!!!!! with this blog post.
But that stuff is really cute. So put my name in the basket, and SEE how easy it is to pull out with MITTENS ON...! Grrr.
xoxo
I love the cold until mid-January, when it's time for it to go away (and here in clement NC, it often does).
I do believe in ghosts, though I don't have a strong interest in the paranormal. I've just heard too many convincing stories from fairly sensible, rational people.
Cool giveaway stuff!

I found your blog a while back and just love it. You make me laugh so hard that if I drank milk (I hate milk), I would spit it out of my nose. I generally read your blog when I am supposed to be working (like now!), but you are so much more fun than my job. I also love the cold. Mainly because I am a middle-aged menopausal woman who has the hot flashes from heck. I sleep with the windows open and the ceiling fan on high year round. It drives my dear husband nuts, but he has learned that when I am in the middle of a hot flash, do not, I repeat do not touch the window or the fan. Ghosts. Well when I was growing up my friend had a "cow" ghost. It peeked around doors and mooed. I loved that cow. I have a friend that does cards and I asked her to ask the spirits to bring back the cow and send it to my house. She said the cow is afraid of my chihuahua's (I have 5), especially the one that farts 24/7. I guess ghosts will not be coming to our house this year!! Great giveway, and again, great blog!!!:)

I love your shiny red giveaway. No, I don't believe in ghosts, well, I don't think I do.
Sometime weird things happen around here and I will say "there's a ghost in the house", but I don't really believe it.
I'm glad you are enjoying some cold weather. We are warming up again to 75 on Sunday. But the nights and mornings are cold.
Yes! I do believe in ghosts and have since my brother and sister-in-law bought their 250 year old house. They have a ghost or ghosts that leave pennies all over. Isn't that strange? Their dogs are constantly staring off as if they are watching someone walk across the room.
I love red and oh, I adore the Russian dolls! Cute & wonderful giveaway.
I always tell my kids there are no such things as ghosts, but I believe there are. (I come from a long line of eastern Kentucky backwoods ghost-seers, which included a great-grandma who always knew when people were going to die. She wasn't really popular.)
Thanks for the opportunity!
I like Casper the friendly ghost. Generally speaking all non-threatening ghosts are good with me. Not a big 'fright night' kinda gal. The cute little non-Russian bride inspired me to join in on this giveaway! :) Thank you, Miss TT
Me me me! Pick me! I don't believe in "ghosts." Just evil spirits. And the ones on Scooby Doo because that's Rowan's favorite cartoon now.
This is the first time that I have read your blog. I enjoyed it and will return.
Ghosts?...not so much..Spirits, YES! So far, in tracking the history of this almost 100 yr old farmhouse, I know of two precious ladies that left from here and went to Heaven. I can't imagine them wanting to come back here. I like to think that they are smiling down and appreciating all the things that my husband and I are doing to make THEIR home, OUR home.
Thanks for the giveaway, Count me in!
Ghosts, hmm? I want to, but I don't think my logical mind has let me believe in the at this point. I'm not sure that I want to be haunted...but I think I'd like it if I knew they were friendly at least.
I totally believe in ghosties!!! Especially Red, shiny ones. Vampires too. I can't wait to win. You can bring me chocolate when you bring me my prize :)
Ghost???? I do believe in them.....and I hope I never encounter one .
Elizabeth
Red is my favorite color. I love everything here. Everything.
I would be so pleased to win THIS giveaway.
Do I believe in ghosts? No. But I believe in spirits, which is different. So many ghosts can be explained away as low batteries or because of prepositioned booze.
