Almost done...

Today I put two new coats of paint on Rebecca's floor, bought and put together a new crappy bookshelf from Target, picked up a few baskets for her stuff, and bought this adorable banner from the Target Simply Shabby Chic line. I cut it in half so that about half of it drapes each window. I am loving this room. It's feminine, innocent and peaceful. Rebecca loves it. She said, "I don't know why we didn't do this years ago." Once the entire room is done, with furniture in place and the floors final coat on I'll post more pictures. I am splurging on a rug for this room. It's from Pottery Barn Kids. Usually I am more of a thrift store budget kind of girl, but since the space for this rug is so small I can get the one I really want in the 3x5 size. It's the dot rug. I'm getting it is pale pink and picking it tomorrow morning.

In other boring mommy blog news- the in-laws are coming this weekend. I don't know about you, but whenever I have family coming into town who don't see my house very often I get a little crazy. Scrubbing every corner, reorganizing the pantry. I even organized the drawer in my night table. Why? Because I am a crazy person that's why.

We are going to grill both nights and I was thinking about getting some fancy meat- some ribeyes for Saturday night. I still haven't totally gotten the hang of perfect grilling yet and I'm always terrified to ruin really expensive meat.

This may be the most mind-numbingly suburban angst boring post ever. I apologize. It's probably because of all the paint fumes.

I see the apple did not fall far from the tree. As for food and grilling, I consider that a man-thing, and whether the result lay solely with him. Make stuff you've made before and loved, and keep it simple. All will be wonderful. It took me a long time to learn this.
