The summer of mud...

I think that I may have mentioned the deep and true love that my youngest daughter has for dirt. Today I was invited to her mud restaurant.

Here she is with her friend Mikey.

They are hard at work discussing recipes. I tried to be sneaky and eavesdrop. Once they saw me spying on them they asked me what I'd like to order. The options were "cake mix", "salad soup" and "the gross salad". I ordered it all.

Here's the soup salad.

Look at all that fiber.

Lily offered to sample it first.

I never got my order for "cake mix".

Mikey made me a hairy meatball though. Stop laughing. That's what he called it.

Look at that face. I love that boy.

Here's their work station.

I have to admit that the "gross salad" was not nearly as appetizing as the "soup salad" or the "hairy meatball".

Here's the hole that Lily and Rebecca are working on.

It's 9 1/5 inches deep. I can't wait to see how deep it gets this summer. There will be a lot of digging. I am praying that we'll find some bones down there. Dinosaur bones would be ideal. I'm not too picky though.

This weekend my mother-in-law asked why anyone would want to read this blog. I have no idea. I'll tell you why I like blogging though. It makes me pay attention. It lets me collect all of those small perfect gems that make up my life. At the end of the day I see my treasure, my perfect treasure and know that I didn't miss it. I didn't miss out on a bit of all that I am blessed with.

So, if you don't like reading about kids, mud, dogs, painting, true love and a grateful heart, you'll probably hate this blog. I hope the rest of you like it.
