Firstly, I have to tell you that I just rocked a baby to sleep in my arms.
Oh my sweet baby cheeks of love!
Baby Audrey is the five month old baby of a friend and she let me hold her baby. I held her and did the mommy rocking thing and that baby put her head on my shoulder, gave a sigh and fell asleep. She killed me. Her smell, the feel of her little head on my shoulder- sheer heaven.
Okay, now that you know about that I can tell you about the junk.
The junking was epic.
First I found Lily some shiny red shoes.
You should know that I love patent leather.
Can you say McCoy Pottery?
Because for .50 I can!
Now brace yourselves people because this story will give you chills.
I went to the junk store hoping to find something specific. I don't usually go into the junk store hoping to find a particular item because it angers the junk gods who prefer that you open yourself to possibilities that they lay before you.
Today however I had the idea that I would love to find a plaid woolen blanket for fall and winter. I could picture it draped on the couch, or maybe used as a blanket on an autumn picnic.
I have never seen one while junking, but still I harbored a secret and dear desire for tartan blanket goodness.
Behold!
Not, one but two!!!!!! They were each 2.99. I gasped aloud. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I felt unworthy of such bounty but snatched those babies up before someone else could grab them.
It gets better.
Know what else I have been looking for for years?
A sled to use decoratively in the winter. I haven't wanted to spend big money on one so I've just been keeping an eye out for one and until today I have never stumbled across one.
There it was for 7.99.
I also found some great clothes, but I won't bore you with that. The point here is that the stars were aligned and the junk gods bestowed upon me their favor.
To show my appreciation of the junk gods and my kind readers who tolerate my daily stream of blather I am having a "My junk is your junk" giveaway.
On my travels recently I have been collecting some things for you, my dear readers.
First a shiny red polka dottie teapot!
A lovely desk set...
It comes with some file folders, a notepad and some note cards in a lovely red holder.
A set of fancy cloth napkins. Why use paper when you can be fancy?
Want to win these lovelies? Leave a comment telling me whether you think I am too old to wear patent leather Mary Janes like Lily's. Winner will be randomly selected next Friday 5pm EST.
Good luck!

First, you are only as old as you think you are...and second, if your mind and heart tell you that you are seven, then go for the gusto and the red patent leather...better yet, to paraphrase the saying...if the patent leather shines, find it in every color!!!
xoxo
Are you crazy!! You are never too old to wear shiny red shoes! I'll put it to you this way unless you have small feet and can find girls shoes that fit you IF YOU FIND SHINY RED SHOES BUY SHINY RED SHOES!!! How cute with jeans and a comfy sweater, or chocolate brown skirt with tights, or leggings and a super red sweater!! Oh i hope you find shiny red shoes!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that you found just what you went for! The give away stuff is awesome too!! OH and how sweet to get to spend time with a baby!!
Hugs, Lisa
Wear the shoes. They will make you happy. I noticed you wearing the purple shoes on the first day of school. Good for you. xoxo Mari
Of course you can wear the shiny red shoes...you live in a shiny red house, don't ya!
Love the plaid blankets. I can picture a beautiful fall picnic...rattan basket, plaid basket, a bottle of wine, etc.
Going tag saling tomorrow. I am on the look-out for a doll. This is nasty but I am just going to rip the head off. We are planning a big Halloween bash here and I was thinking of a glass jar filled with gooey liquid (fake guts & pus) with a head. I actually saw one online but they wanted $40 for it. Wish me luck!!!!!
Hey dude...my comment got lost in blogville nowhere land. I'm giving it another shot 'cuz I want the sled. I know the sled is not on the list. But. I. Want. The. Sled.
You're never too old for whatever makes you smile. You're practically Dorothy from Oz, so why not wear the shoes? I love the shoes in the picture and it's a shame they're not your size.
I'll bet the nuns wouldn't let you wear shiny patent leather in school since we all know the boys could see the reflection of your underwear in their mirror-like surface. So go for it now!
I'm glad the universe smiled on you and put the tartan blankets and Flexible Flyer in your junking path today. I want both blankets and the sled. And, don't waste the sled using it as a decoration...go for a slide down the nearest hill this winter!
Love,
C
One is never too old to wear red shoes - or red hats - or red dresses and dance in the moonlight. And certainly never too old to love red teapots. Hmmm, think I'll go visit my teapots in the dining room - I think they'd love to have a red one come to visit.
I think if you wear shoes like those and a school girl skirt your husband might get naughty ideas!
But I really wanted to tell you to look in the Better Homes & Gardens latest issue around page 283. Does the dog bowl look familiar? It could be last months (not sure now, it was at work)
Life is short.... wear whatever makes you happy!
And those red shoes would make me happy too! {lucky Lily}
I love days when you find exactly what you are looking for....The junking gods are smiling down at you!
:-)
Now for that red polka dot tea pot..... I am drooling! I want a chance to win that sweet baby!
It would be perrrrrrfect in my cherry kitchen!
Hugz,
Dolly
You have a lovely blog. As far as the shoes, I don't think anyone is too old to wear anykind of shoes. That is one thing I am very happy about. Now clothes is another thing.

I just turned sixty in May and I would definitely wear the red shoes! My feelings are, if you think you are old, you will become old... think young! Bisous... Julie Marie
Absolutely wear those red shoes! Why not wear what makes you happy. I had a similar experience at a junk store last week. I've been looking for a shade for my bridge lamp for months and there it was! I gasped out loud too, in fact I think I may have screamed!

Wow!! I am actually a touch jealous at your finds. It is so rare to have the stars align & the junk gods smile..what an awesome time! As for the red shoes? Absotively posilutely you should wear them. No woman should ever be too old to wear red patent leather if she doesn't want to be and what woman wants to be? :)

I want to come visit you so you can take me to all your favorite haunts! Besides...it is so much cooler there....I need me some cool too! So amazing what you find when you go junkin! Looking in the crystal ball...here is what I see.....you all snuggly under one of your new tartan blankies with your new shiney shoes peeking out underneath (I'm not comparing you to the witch, but at this moment I am visualizing the ruby red slippers sticking out from underneath the house, see what I'm picturing here?) Hopefully you are laughing right now....Hopefully. What am I trying to say?.....That is obviously taking me a hell of a long time to get out......get yourself a pair of those shoes! Age smage! What a precious thing to rock a baby to sleep! I love it when their little eyes get heavy. They are warm and soft. *sigh* My children have grown up too quickly.
If you'd like to wear those red shoes--go for it--especially on a cloudy, drizzly day. It would make me smile to see them. ; )
~Michele
P.S. Love that teapot...of course! ; )

You go GIRL! Red is the new neutral, and we all know neutrals go anywhere any time. I can't believe you found the Flexible Flyer for under $8. You would never find a steal like that in the Midwest. Enjoy your new treasures.
